Honors and Awards

As befits any organization that seeks to be a positive influence on the lives of its members, the Arthurian Order of Avalon has a variety of honors and awards to bestow on those who exemplify the spirit of the organization.

Order of the Roses ~

In England, there is a massive woodcut of the Round Table displayed in the Winchester Great Hall.  Carved in the center of the table are two heraldic (Tudor) roses superimposed white upon red.  These roses have been selected to symbolize the ideals central to the AOA.  The Red Rose symbolizes Faith, Hope and Courtesy.  The White Rose symbolizes Chivalry, Purity and Honor.

These roses are awarded to members who embody and exemplify these qualities.  A Red Rose must be earned before a White Rose can be awarded.

Hospitaller

This award is given to the person(s) who, throughout the year, have shown unfailing grace and hospitality to the AOA as a group and/or its individual members.  This honor is named for the military order of monks who provided aid to soldiers and others in need during the Crusades.

This award is given by the King to a Knight(s) who has embodied or exemplified the ideals of chivalry, courtesy and honor.
